Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following student intern positions that have arisen in the Works and Estates Development Department at the Women’s University in Africa:
Reports to Deputy Director, Operations
RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY TASKS
- Assist in inspections and troubleshooting of mechanical systems;
- Support repair and maintenance activities for mechanical systems;
- Contribute to the implementation of the preventive maintenance programme;
- Aid in equipment procurement and installation;
- Assist in energy efficiency and sustainability projects;
- Help in preparing designs, specifications, and cost estimations;
- Assist in supervising artisans and ensuring optimal manpower utilization; and
- Collaborate with the team and learn from experienced engineers.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field;
- Current transcript;
- Competency in using design software such as Auto Cad;
- Interest in mechanical/electrical systems and maintenance;
- Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite;
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills;
- Ability to work well in a team; and
- Pro-active.
