The Women’s University in Africa (WUA) is seeking to outsource the management of its website to reflect its mandate and showcase its outputs in the form of research, community engagement, community service, innovations and commercialization of research outputs.

The University was established in 2002 and was granted a Charter by the Parliament of Zimbabwe in 2004 through the Statutory Instrument 130 of 2004.  The University identified the urgent need to upgrade its website to reflect its current strategy, enhance its public profile and ensure it is more appealing and user-friendly to its target audience and followers.

WUA is therefore calling for expressions of interest for a consultant to provide the following website upgrade and maintenance services: -

1. Develop the website aesthetic site map, build the pages, and develop and manage content.
2. Upgrade the website’s visual branding and current brand identity
3. Retrieve historical content on the establishment of WUA and be visible to the public
4. Upload fresh relevant content
5. Review the content management system and update
6. Update the design, look and feel of the pages
7. Rethink and reposition key work targeting and content strategy and overall Search Engine Optimization strategy
8. Provide easier navigation on pages and mobile-friendly web design
9. Improve website menus
10. Add special effects and powerful multi-media elements
11. Align the University website design with current trends
12. Check for issues such as:-

• Missing and poor-quality images
• Incorrect and/or outdated user information
• Broken links
• Formatting/style issues

13. Capacity build the Marketing, Communications & Public Relations staff.

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Good proofreading and editing skills
• Extremely creative with an eye for layout and design
• Be able to work within the frameworks of the various interdepartmental business processes while remaining highly creative
• Ability to develop content for complex, efficient websites
• Extensive knowledge of PHP, MySQL, XHTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Demonstrated understanding of the principles of website responsiveness, in particular, in relation to gender mainstreaming and diversity issues

Qualifications and Experience

• A University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Web Development or a related field;
• A Masters degree in these fields is an added advantage
• A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in IT project management/web development
• Experience working in content marketing, SEO, analytics, campaigns and graphic design
• Notable experience with managing large databases and servers

The successful candidate will report to the Pro Vice Chancellor - Planning, Business Development, Operations and Finance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the execution of the Works and Estates development strategy integrating gender and diversity and aligning to the University’s corporate strategy;
• Develop and lead the application of Works and Estates development in compliance with gender and diversity responsive policies and standard operating procedures and related statutes;
• Develop and lead the execution of the University’s gender and diversity responsive infrastructure development and maintenance master plans covering buildings, site infrastructure (roads, electricity, sewage and water reticulation), sporting and recreation facilities as well as University grounds in consultation with relevant University departments;
• Prepare and/ or negotiate contracts, leases, deeds, and other real estate legal documents;
• Recommend the acquisition, use and disposition of real estate properties in line with the University’s campus master plan;
• Oversee the planning and management of the University’s transport and logistics system;
• Liaise and network with a wide range of individuals and organisations including technical contractors, consultants and architects; and
• Provide leadership and direction to the Works and Estates Development team.

Qualifications Experience and Attributes

• A Master’s degree in any of the following fields: Civil/Electrical Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Facilities Management or Project Management;
• Be registered with and a member of a relevant professional body as reflected in supporting documentation lodged together with the application;
• At least five (5) years post-qualification working experience, three (3) of which are in operations management or equivalent reflecting various business software applications;
• Broad experience in managing a complex Works and Estates portfolio informed by forward planning and forecasting;
• A sound understanding of the legal and financial aspects of major Works and Estates project transactions;
• Demonstrated experience in managing construction projects and facilities;
• Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operations metrics;
• Demonstrated experience in running a transport and logistics system and a clean driver’s license is a must;
• Demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary Works and Estates Development teams;
• A PhD Degree in any of the fields above would be an added advantage; and
• Possession of a business-related qualification would be an added advantage.

The Transport and Logistics Officer will report to the Deputy Director, Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Processing transport requests and allocating pool vehicles to users for optimal use;
• Overseeing the operations, maintenance and repairs of University fleet and ancillary equipment;
• Ensuring that University vehicles are roadworthy, branded, serviced and licensed timeously and stored safely;
• Developing policy procedures and safety protocols in order to improve the provision of transport services to the University;
• Drafting and presenting weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports on the status of the University’s fleet;
• Managing resources in an economic, efficient and cost-effective manner, and in line with set standards, policies and procedures;
• Overseeing and scheduling vehicle inspection, maintenance, and servicing to minimise down time;
• Overseeing the maintenance of vehicle information and inspection records;
• Superintending over the routing and timetabling of the University fleet;
• Leading in the investigations into vehicle accidents, incidences, damages, misuse and abuse.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Higher National Diploma in Transport Management or equivalent from a reputable examination board;

• Defensive Driver's License is a must;
• Membership of a Professional board is an added advantage;
• A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience as Transport and Logistics Officer or equivalent; and

Duties and Responsibilities

• Providing computer systems support (Hardware and Software);
• Providing VOIP support;
• Carrying out LAN installation, maintenance and monitoring;
• Updating and maintaining user ICT asset register;
• Repairing computers, laptops, printers, servers and other related computer peripherals;
• Supporting ICT systems and related queries to staff and students;
• Setting-up, supervising and monitoring ICT labs;
• Providing ICT related training for staff, students and stakeholders;
• Installing and upgrading anti-virus software to ensure security at the user level;
• Setting-up and maintaining audio visual equipment in lecture rooms;
• Backing up ICT systems;
• Carrying out scheduled and preventative maintenance for ICT equipment;

Qualifications

• A Higher National Diploma in Information Technology or any related field.

Experience

• At least one (1) year post qualification experience as ICT Technician;

  • LAN installation and maintenance; and
  • User and ICT systems support.
