Call For Expression Of Interest
The Women’s University in Africa (WUA) is seeking to outsource the management of its website to reflect its mandate and showcase its outputs in the form of research, community engagement, community service, innovations and commercialization of research outputs.
The University was established in 2002 and was granted a Charter by the Parliament of Zimbabwe in 2004 through the Statutory Instrument 130 of 2004. The University identified the urgent need to upgrade its website to reflect its current strategy, enhance its public profile and ensure it is more appealing and user-friendly to its target audience and followers.
WUA is therefore calling for expressions of interest for a consultant to provide the following website upgrade and maintenance services: -
- Develop the website aesthetic site map, build the pages, and develop and manage content.
- Upgrade the website’s visual branding and current brand identity
- Retrieve historical content on the establishment of WUA and be visible to the public
- Upload fresh relevant content
- Review the content management system and update
- Update the design, look and feel of the pages
- Rethink and reposition key work targeting and content strategy and overall Search Engine Optimization strategy
- Provide easier navigation on pages and mobile-friendly web design
- Improve website menus
- Add special effects and powerful multi-media elements
- Align the University website design with current trends
- Check for issues such as:-
- Missing and poor-quality images
- Incorrect and/or outdated user information
- Broken links
- Formatting/style issues
- Capacity build the Marketing, Communications & Public Relations staff.
Knowledge and Skills Required
- Good proofreading and editing skills
- Extremely creative with an eye for layout and design
- Be able to work within the frameworks of the various interdepartmental business processes while remaining highly creative
- Ability to develop content for complex, efficient websites
- Extensive knowledge of PHP, MySQL, XHTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of website responsiveness, in particular, in relation to gender mainstreaming and diversity issues
Qualifications and Experience
- A University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Web Development or a related field;
- A Masters degree in these fields is an added advantage
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in IT project management/web development
- Experience working in content marketing, SEO, analytics, campaigns and graphic design
- Notable experience with managing large databases and servers
