Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position that has arisen at the Women’s University in Africa:
DIRECTOR, RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND POSTGRADUATE CENTRE
Reports to the Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs)
RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY TASKS
- Develops and implements the Centre’s policy framework, research and publications strategy, targets and performance indicators of the University’s research endeavours in line with the Education 5.0 doctrine;
- Promotes and coordinates development of a research environment and culture within the Centre and the University which is intellectually stimulating to postgraduate students and staff;
- Initiates, implements, monitors and evaluates policies, systems and procedures dealing with University research, innovation and industrialisation
- Operates as Editor in Chief of the University’s journals and facilitates publication thereof;
- Facilitates sourcing of Research Funding for students and staff;
- Superintends over the establishment and operations of innovation hubs and industrial parks;
- Manages research grants;
- Develops the profile of the Centre through representation, engagement and development of strong linkages with industry, research funding entities, community groups and relevant research regulatory authorities and convenes research related meetings and writing of reports;
- Coordinates, manages and administers Doctoral Training of the University on behalf of all the Faculties.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
Qualifications
- An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution;
- Must be a prominent academic with a proven track record of scholarship, research, publications, collaborations, networking and resource mobilisation;
- Be a Full Professor or Associate Professor.
Experience
- At least five (5) years’ experience as a Chairperson of a Department/Head of a Research Unit;
- Possession of Patents/Utility Models/Industrial Designs as well as evidence of Collaborations, Networking and Resource Mobilisation will be a distinct advantage;

- Strong time-management skills and excellent ability to adhere to tight deadlines;
