Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following position which has arisen at Women’s University in Africa:
The Business Development Manager will report to the Director, Marketing, Communications and Public Relations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Setting goals and developing growth strategies and plans for the University;
- Researching, planning, and implementing new target market initiatives;
- Researching for opportunities in target markets;
- Pursuing leads and moving them through the sales cycle;
- Developing proposals for new projects;
- Setting goals for the business development team and developing strategies to meet these goals;
- Supervising Heads of the University Business Enterprises;
- Providing business development services to all University Departments/ Sections/Faculties;
- Managing and retaining relationships with existing clients;
- Increasing the client base;
- Writing business proposals;
- Identifying and mapping business strengths and customer needs;
- Researching business opportunities and viable income streams;
- Following industry trends locally and internationally;
- Drafting and reviewing contracts;
- Reporting on successes and areas needing improvements;
- Setting up and managing alliances and relationships with various organisations;
- Performing analytical preparation for opportunities for potential growth for Executive Management;
- Creating plans for employee training, motivating them for optimum performance in the duties;
- Generating new contacts and sales leads for the University;
- Leveraging on various expertise in the University, including every intellectual property and existing technologies to expand the University’s influence, bringing into the market new products services and business;
- Identifying sales leads and pitch offers to customers;
- Maintaining a good relationship with clients and new contacts; and
- Following up on new and potential business opportunities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business related area such as Marketing, Accounting, Finance or Business Management;
- A Master’s degree in any of the areas highlighted above will be a distinct advantage;
- Membership of a professional board is an added advantage; and
- At least five (5) years working experience in a related post.
