Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill various positions which have arisen at Women’s University in Africa.
The Security Officer is in charge of all security matters at the University’s campuses and reports to the Deputy Registrar, Human resources and Administration.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing a robust security structure that will ensure the safety of staff and property of the Women’s University in Africa;
- Identifying areas of potential loss within the University and designing functional systems to prevent loss;
- Developing and implementing preventative measures against accidents, thefts and other security risks;
- Ensuring compliance to applicable policies and regulations;
- Supervising and overseeing all security functions in the University;
- Introducing electronic surveillance systems in identified areas to minimise loss;
- Training and supervising CCTV operators, and evaluating their performance;
- Supervising the security team in accordance with the University’s policies and
applicable laws including, planning, assigning and directing work, training security personnel, appraising performance and maintaining discipline among security personnel; - Preparing and submitting security reports i.e. incident reports, monthly and annual reports to the Deputy Registrar, Human Resources and Administration;
- Conducting investigations and/or ensuring that investigations are undertaken on all allegations and types of crimes that may occur at the University’s premises;
- Developing organisation-wide security awareness programmes as appropriate for the business and the culture of the University; and
- Performing any other duties as assigned by the Deputy Registrar, Human Resources and Administration.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Security Management from a reputable examination board;
- At least 5 O’ Levels including English language;
- Professional security qualification is an added advantage;
- At least three (3) years security supervisory experience;
- Experience in the National Security organs would be an added advantage; and
- Computer literacy.
