Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position of Security Guard which has arisen at Women’s University in Africa.
The Security Guard will report to the Library Assistant.
Responsibilities
- Patrolling the library premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates;
- Checking physically and locking all external doors, windows, when it applies to the overall security of the premises;
- Answering alarms and investigate disturbances;
- Monitoring and authorizing entrance and departure of users visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises;
- Writing reports of irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
- Calling police or fire departments in cases of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons;
- Circulating among users, visitors, and employees to preserve order and protect property;
- Warning persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary;
- Carry out physical body checks if the need arises
- Operating detecting devices to screen individuals and prevent passage of prohibited articles (Bags, knives guns and so on) into restricted areas;
- Inspecting and adjusting security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering;
- Monitoring and checking the parcel counter;
- Maintaining a daily statistical record of users and visitors; and
- Performing any extra duties from time to time when need arises.
Qualifications and experience
- Five (5) O’ Levels.
- At least a Certificate in Security Training from a reputable organisation;
- At least one (1) year working experience as a Security Guard;
- The candidate would be required to work in the evenings and over the weekends;
- Flexibility, availability, initiative, dynamism frankness and honesty;
- Good team work and co-operation with all staff members;
