Sustainability

The Women’s University in Africa (WUA)—guided by its tagline “Addressing gender disparity and fostering equity in University Education”—seeks to blend academic excellence with sustainability. To bridge theory and practice, marketing students under the leadership of Coordinator Mr. Terera and Marketing Communications Lecturer Mrs. Makuliyashi launched the “Our Power, Our Planet” initiative. On Earth Day (April 22), the campaign focused on educating stakeholders through panel discussions and improving environmental cleanliness. The event garnered media coverage from outlets including 3KTV, highlighting the vital link between human welfare and environmental sustainability while showcasing the university’s commitment to advancing quality of life.

The campaign featured interactive engagement, including a “Hug a Tree” initiative to promote environmental consciousness and a networking luncheon that connected students with industry professionals. Prominent stakeholders praised the event as a model for institutional sustainability and student-led change. By combining academic knowledge with hands-on practice, the initiative successfully raised environmental awareness, strengthened community ties, and established WUA as a leader in sustainability education.
