OVERVIEW

This Healthcare Assistant (HCA) course is designed to provide those who are new to the health and social care sector with a basic understanding of the standard procedures involved in providing health care. This course will cover several aspects of health and social care Working in Different Healthcare Settings

  • Roles, Rights and Responsibilities of a Health Care Assistant
  • Basic Nursing Care and Patient centred care
  • Communicable Diseases
  • Infection Prevention, Control (IPC) and Hygiene in Nursing
  • Privacy and Confidentiality in a Medical Environment
  • Medical Record Keeping
  • Mobility Issues of Patients
  • Medical Language and Terminology
  • Palliative Care
  • Geriatric Care
  • Paediatric Care
  • Mental health Care
  • Nutrition, Food Safety & Hygiene
  • Clinical Attachment

By the end of the course, the trainee will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the types of duties that Health Care Assistants typically carry out, and will be equipped with the practical skills to work effectively in a team environment. The graduate trainee will be able to work in hospital settings, home based care settings and various convalescent settings as care assistants.

Entry Qualifications:

  1. Five Ordinary Level passes including the following subjects: English Language,
  2. “A” level pass will be an added advantage.
  3. Duration of Course

The course will be offered over a period of twelve week on a full-time basis at a fee of USD220. 

Certification

On successful completion of the Health Care Assistant course, students will be awarded certificates.
