GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND REMOTE SENSING LECTURER X 1
RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY TASKS
• Teaching of the following modules; Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing, Environmental and Social Assessment, Risk and Disaster Management, Climate Change and related fields;
• Conducting research, and developing innovations in the Department of Environmental Sciences;
• Participate in community engagements activities and contribute to towards the industrialization of communities, including rural areas;
• Preparing and maintaining accurate records, reports and documentation relating to procurement activities;
• Coordinate and participate in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research students; and
• Contribute to departmental administration, curriculum review, and academic program development.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES
• A PhD in Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing or closely related field is an added advantage;
• Master’s degree in Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing, Geography, Environmental Science or related field;
• Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing Geography, Environmental Science or related field;
• A teaching qualification would be an added advantage; and
• At least two (2) years relevant teaching experience at tertiary level.
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
• Good communication skills;
• Ability to motivate and guide students; and
• Effective organizational and planning skills.
