    Celebrating Our Caregivers: Love Gogo Campaign Empowers Grandmothers in New Mabvuku
    On May 12, 2025, the Women’s University in Africa hosted the “Love Gogo Campaign” in New Mabvuku, Harare. an initiative aimed at supporting grandmothers who are primary caregivers for their orphaned grandchildren. The campaign drew attention to the struggles faced by these caregivers, many of whom are facing poverty and health challenges.
    During the campaign, donations were given to these caregivers, demonstrating the community’s support and also encouraging their further involvement in addressing the broader socio-economic challenges faced by the grandmothers.
    The “Love Gogo Campaign,” inspired by the “Grandmother to Grandmother Campaign,” also served as a vital reminder to engage with and lobby for policies affecting elderly women and their economic security, recognizing the need for systemic changes that support their welfare.
    The event concluded with heartfelt testimonies from grandmothers who shared their experiences and the challenges they face daily. Their stories demonstrated the urgent need for continued support through potential policy reforms that could enhance access to resources, healthcare, and financial assistance for elderly women.
    As an institution, the Women’s University in Africa remains committed to addressing gender disparity by uplifting these unsung heroes and engaging the community the community at large to prioritize their wellbeing.
