We are pleased to share a series of upcoming events, calls and collaborative opportunities curated to support institutional advancement and innovation across African Higher Education. These engagements, organized in partnership with key stakeholders, address strategic areas including digital learning, quality assurance, research development, and leadership capacity.

1. 2025 SINGAPORE EXECUTIVE TRAINING WEBINAR
The Association of African Universities together with its partners, Resource for Development (RfD) and PSB Academy Singapore, is pleased to invite you to a special webinar ahead of the 2025 Executive Training Programme on “Information Technology (IT) Infrastructure Management and IT Audit in an Era of Artificial Intelligence.” The training which is designed to provide participants with strategic insights and practical skills to effectively manage IT infrastructure and audit processes in the context of AI-driven transformation is scheduled to take place from the 19th–30th September,2025 in Singapore .
This Pre-Executive Training Webinar offers prospective delegates a comprehensive preview of the training and an opportunity to engage with the organisers, ask questions, and prepare for a transformative learning experience.
The webinar will provide insights into the programme’s scope, rationale, institutional visits, logistical arrangements, and other key details.

2. HBCU-AFRICA PARTNERSHIPS : FROM DIALOGUE TO ACTION VIRTUAL CONFERENCE
The AAU, in collaboration with the Historic African Diaspora Placement Program (HADIP) and the UNCF Institute for Capacity Building (UNCF ICB), invites you to participate in the global conference titled “From Dialogue to Action: Advancing Partnerships between Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and African Higher Education Institutions in Alignment with the Diaspora as Africa’s Sixth Region.”
This virtual event marks a pivotal moment in the effort to formalize sustainable, mutually beneficial partnerships between Historically Black Colleges(HBCs) and African higher education institutions. The conference seeks to align shared histories with shared futures, leveraging the global influence of HBCUs and the demographic power of Africa, where nearly 60% of the population is under 25.
Participants will engage across four strategic pillars which include cross-Atlantic student enrollment and financing, curriculum co-design and joint research, institutional capacity and business model development, diaspora empowerment and global leadership. This gathering is a call to action for institutional leaders, partners, and emerging innovators committed to building legacy and impact across continents.

3. AU-EU INNOVATION FAIR : CALL FOR EXPRESSSION OF INTEREST
The AAU on behalf of the African Union(AU) and European Union(EU) is pleased to announce the call for Expression of Interest for start-ups and SMEs to pitch their transformative solutions at the Innovation Fair scheduled to take place on 23rd October 2025, in Brussels.
Organised under the theme “Enabling that step forward,” the Innovation Fair aims to showcase the vibrancy of the European, African, and Mediterranean innovation ecosystems and support the scale up of the most promising innovative solutions.

4. AAU- eLEARNAFRICA : INVITATION TO CO-DEVELOP PROFESSIONAL ONLINE COURSES
The Association of African Universities, in collaboration with eLearnAfrica, invites Subject Matter Experts and Academic/Training Institutions to express interest in partnering to co-develop courses under the Professional Learning for Africa’s Future initiative. This initiative is focused on designing and delivering professional development courses for Africa’s workforce through the AAU-eLearnAfricaLMS platform and aligns with the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.
It aims to democratize access to high-quality, industry-relevant learning by leveraging Africa’s intellectual and institutional expertise.
All content will be mobile-friendly, low-bandwidth optimized, and credentialed through digital badges and micro-certifications.

5. LINKING QUALITY ASSURANCE TO INSTITUTIONAL PERFORMANCE AND DEVELOPMENT
The African Quality Assurance Network (AfriQAN) and the AAU invite stakeholders to a virtual workshop focused on transforming Quality Assurance (QA) from a regulatory obligation into a strategic driver of institutional excellence, innovation, and development.
This workshop will explore how QA frameworks can be effectively aligned with institutional performance indicators and development goals. It aims to support African Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in moving from compliance-based QA systems to performance-oriented models that foster continuous improvement, evidence-based decision-making, and enhanced teaching and learning outcomes.
Participants will be introduced to practical tools for integrating QA into institutional planning, engage in peer learning, and develop draft action points tailored to their institutional contexts. The workshop will also highlight how QA can influence funding, partnerships, and institutional rankings.

6. INAUGURAL MEDIA MASTERCLASS
The TV Unit of the Association of African Universities, AAU TV, extends an invitation to participate in a Four-Day Media Masterclass for Higher Education Institutions, under the theme, “Harnessing Media for Education: Mastering Digital Tools Training for African Universities.”
This inaugural masterclass is designed to build the capacity of communication and media professionals, as well as students in media-related programs, by equipping them with essential digital media skills. The training blends theory with hands-on practice to enhance participants’ abilities in media literacy, digital storytelling, and content creation.
The masterclass will focus on equipping attendees with first-hand experience in digital media production and promoting the ethical and responsible use of media in educational contexts.

7. CALL FOR PAPERS & PARTICIPATION – RUAIETH 2025
The AAU, its Southern Africa Regional Office (SARO), and Europe Regional Office are pleased to announce the Call for Papers and invite you to register for the International Conference on Responsible Use of Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies in Higher Education (RUAIETH 2025). The conference will be hosted at the Namibia University of Science & Technology (NUST) from 1 to 3 October 2025. RUAIETH 2025 welcomes original research contributions and workshop proposals focused on the responsible integration of Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies in higher education. Accepted papers will be published by Taylor & Francis, with selected extended versions featured in the Journal of Responsible Technology. The conference will explore key themes including personalised learning, smart campuses, digital twins, governance and ethics, and challenges to adoption such as inclusiveness and infrastructure.
