PREAMBLE
The Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) is a professional programme designed to prepare students for effective practice in addressing social, economic, psychological, and environmental challenges affecting individuals, families, groups, and communities. The programme equips students with theoretical knowledge, practical skills, and ethical principles necessary to promote social justice, human rights, community empowerment, and sustainable development.
The degree integrates classroom learning with fieldwork placements, enabling students to apply social work theories and intervention strategies in real-life settings. Students gain competencies in case management, counseling, social policy analysis, community development, research, advocacy, and programme management. The programme seeks to produce competent and ethical social work professionals capable of contributing to national development and improving the well-being of vulnerable populations.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants seeking admission into the Bachelor of Social Work programme should possess:
Normal Entry
- At least five (5) O-Level passes, including English Language.
- At least two (2) A-Level passes and at least 10 points or their equivalent.
- A relevant diploma or equivalent qualification in Social Work, Community Development, Sociology, Psychology, Social Sciences, or a related field from a recognized institution. li>
- Applicants who meet institutional mature-entry requirements and demonstrate relevant work experience in social services, community development, or related sectors may be considered.
