Preamble
The Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Information Technology is designed to equip students with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the design, development, management and application of information and communication technologies. The programme prepares students to respond to the growing demand for skilled ICT professionals across business, government, education and other sectors. Students are exposed to areas such as software development, database management, computer networks, cybersecurity, web technologies, systems analysis, artificial intelligence and IT project management. The programme combines academic learning, practical training and problem-solving to produce innovative and competent IT professionals.
Programme Aim
The aim of the programme is to develop competent, innovative and ethically responsible Information Technology professionals who can design, implement, manage and evaluate technology-based solutions to address organisational and societal challenges.
Programme Objectives
Upon completion of the programme, students should be able to:
- Apply fundamental and advanced concepts of Information Technology to real-world problems.
- Design, develop, test and maintain software applications and information systems.
- Analyse, design and manage computer networks and IT infrastructure.
- Apply database technologies to develop and manage secure and efficient information systems.
- Identify and address cybersecurity risks and implement appropriate security measures.
- Develop websites, mobile applications and other digital solutions.
- Apply emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing and data analytics.
- Analyse organisational information needs and recommend appropriate technological solutions.
- Manage IT projects using appropriate project management methodologies.
- Conduct research and use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to address ICT challenges.
- Demonstrate professional, ethical and responsible use of information and communication technologies.
- Communicate effectively and work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
Admission Entry Requirements
Applicants should normally meet the following requirements:
At least five (5) Ordinary Level passes, including English Language and Mathematics, or equivalent qualifications.
At least two (2) relevant Advanced Level passes, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the institution and relevant regulatory authorities.
Applicants with relevant diplomas, higher national diplomas or other recognised tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or related fields may be considered for admission and/or advanced standing in accordance with institutional regulations.
Mature-entry applicants with relevant academic qualifications and/or appropriate work experience may be considered in accordance with the institution’s approved admission policy.
All applicants must satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the institution and relevant regulatory authorities.
Duration of Programme
The Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Information Technology shall normally be completed over four (4) years of full-time study. The programme may include theoretical coursework, practical laboratory sessions, industrial attachment/work-related learning and a final-year research project or dissertation, subject to institutional requirements.

Minimum Requirements
Minimum of five ‘O’ level passes including English Language and
Mathematics; and
– At least two ‘A’ level passes in relevant subjects; OR
– A relevant Diploma in Computer Science/Computer Studies/Information
Technology and at least 2 years relevant work experience.
