    Women’s University in Africa (WUA), is looking to recruit a highly experienced and qualified Consultant specialising in Strategy Formulation and Review to facilitate the midterm review of the university’s Transformational Strategy 2023 – 2027. This engagement aims to assess progress, identify areas for adjustment, and ensure the strategy remains aligned with WUA’s vision and evolving educational landscape.

    1. Scope of Work
    The selected consultant will primarily focus on facilitating a two-day workshop with a selected internal committee. Key tasks include:

    • Pre-Workshop Preparation: Review the Transformational Strategy 2023-2027 document and any other relevant institutional information provided by WUA in advance of the workshop.
    • Workshop Facilitation: Lead and facilitate a two-day workshop with a selected internal committee to conduct the midterm review of the Transformational Strategy. This includes
      guiding discussions on:

    Progress made against strategic goals and objectives.
    – Identification of gaps, challenges, and emerging issues.
    – Brainstorming and formulation of recommendations for refining the strategy for its remaining period.

    • Recommendation & Action Plan Development: Guide the internal committee in developing practical and actionable recommendations for refining the strategy, including potential adjustments to objectives, timelines, resource allocation, or implementation approaches.
    • Report Writing: Developing and outlining a comprehensive Midterm Review Report, documenting the workshop’s findings, analysis, recommendations, and an updated action
      plan for the remaining strategic period. The consultant’s role is facilitation and will be responsible for the final report content,

    2. Consultant Charges
    Prospective consultants should submit a detailed financial proposal outlining their professional fees. This must clearly indicate:

    • Daily Consultancy Rate: The proposed daily rate inclusive of all anticipated expenses
    • Estimated Number of Days: A realistic estimate of the number of days required to complete the scope of work (including preparation, the two-day workshop and report writing).
    • Tax clearance: Consultants should include a tax clearance certificate or withholding tax will be deducted.

    WUA encourages proposals that demonstrate value for money while ensuring high-quality expertise.

    3. Consultant Qualifications
    Applicants must provide their comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV), clearly outlining their qualifications, professional experience, and expertise relevant to strategy formulation, review, and workshop facilitation.

    If the consultant plans to engage an assistant, a brief CV or summary of qualifications for the assistant, detailing their relevant experience and role in the proposed engagement, should also be included.

    Key qualifications and skills:

    • A minimum of a Master’s degree or higher in Strategic Management, Business Administration, Public Policy, or a related field.
    • Demonstrable experience (minimum 7 years) in strategy formulation, review,
      implementation, and evaluation, preferably within the higher education sector.
    • Proven expertise in facilitating high-level strategic workshops and stakeholder consultations.
    • Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills.

    4. References of Strategy-Related Work Done in the Past 3 Years

    Applicants must provide a sample of a report for a similar assignment and a list of at least three (3) strategy-related assignments successfully completed within the past three years (2022 to 2025). For each assignment, kindly include:

    • Client Name and Contact Person: Name of the organization and the direct contact person
      (with their designation, email, and phone number) who can attest to the quality of your work.
    • Nature of Assignment: A brief description of the strategy formulation, review, or related project undertaken, specifically highlighting any facilitation roles.
    • Duration of Assignment: The start and end dates of the project.
    • Key Deliverables: A summary of the objectives and the results achieved.
