    Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions that have arisen at the Women’s University in Africa:

     

    1. Position : Architectural Student Intern

    Reports to       : Deputy Director, Operations

    Station             : Harare Campus

    Period              : One (1) year

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY TASKS

     

    • Assisting in the development and implementation of project plans;
    • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met;
    • Supporting project managers in tracking project progress and identifying potential bottlenecks;
    • Conducting research and analysis to gather data for project planning and decision-making;
    • Assisting in preparing project documentation, including designs, reports, presentations and status updates;
    • Contributing to the continuous improvement of project management processes and methodologies;
    • Assisting in organising and facilitating project meetings, workshops and training sessions;
    • Assisting in preparing project estimates and cash flows; and
    • Assisting in managing project budgets and resources.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

     

    • Currently pursuing a National Diploma in Architecture, Architectural Technology, or a closely related field at a reputable institution of higher learning;
    • Strong interest in infrastructure design and construction;
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or other architectural software;
    • Knowledge of building codes, regulations and construction standards;
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate drawings and documentation;
    • Strong problem solving and communication skills;
    • Ability to work well in a team; and
    • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow.
    1. Position : Mechanical/Industrial Student Intern

    Reports to       : Director, Works and Estates Development

    Station             : Harare Campus

    Period              : One (1) year

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY TASKS

     

    • Assisting in inspections and troubleshooting of mechanical systems;
    • Supporting repair and maintenance activities for mechanical systems;
    • Contributing to the implementation of the preventive maintenance programme;
    • Aiding in equipment procurement and installation;
    • Assisting in energy efficiency and sustainability projects;
    • Helping in preparing designs, specifications and cost estimations;
    • Assisting in supervising artisans and ensuring optimal manpower utilization; and
    • Collaborating with the team and learning from experienced engineers.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

     

    • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a closely related field from a reputable institution of higher learning;
    • Current transcript;
    • Competency in using design software such as Auto Cad;
    • Interest in mechanical/electrical systems and maintenance;
    • Basic understanding of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems;
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite;
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills; and
    • Proactive and self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow.
