Women’s University in Africa Hosts Global Experts on Inclusive Internationalisation

The Women’s University in Africa (WUA) is proud to welcome a distinguished team of international experts on the internationalisation of higher education institutions for a two-day site visit at its Harare Campus from 19–20 November 2025.

This visit follows WUA’s participation in an International Association of Universities (IAU) program, supported by UNESCO, aimed at promoting equitable and inclusive internationalisation. As part of this initiative, WUA conducted a comprehensive self-assessment of its strategies, policies, and processes to strengthen its global engagement.

    The expert panel includes:

    · Professor Giorgio Marinoni, Manager of HE and Internationalisation at IAU

    · Professor Tamarat Wondwosen, Founder and Vice Chancellor of St Mary’s University, Ethiopia

    · Professor Inga Zaleniene, Vice President of IAU and Rector of Mykolas Romeris University

    · Dr Lavern Samuels, Director of International Education & Partnerships at Durban University of Technology and a global leader in COIL

During the site visit, the experts will meet with the WUA team to review progress and identify areas for improvement.

    Upcoming Workshop: Advancing Inclusive Internationalisation

Immediately after the site visit, WUA will host a half-day workshop on Friday, 21 November 2025, bringing together:

    · Higher education representatives

    · Policy makers

    · Key stakeholders in Zimbabwe

The workshop will focus on making internationalisation more equitable and inclusive—both in knowledge and in people—with special attention to women. Participants will engage in peer-to-peer learning and networking, while WUA and the IAU experts share insights and lessons learned from the project.

This is a unique opportunity to strengthen collaboration and foster inclusive global engagement in Zimbabwe’s higher education sector.
