    Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions that have arisen in the Bursar’s Department at the Women’s University in Africa:

    ASSISTANT BURSAR PAYABLES X 1

    RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY TASKS

    1. Processing invoices and issuing payments;
    2. Maintaining records of outstanding payables and credits;
    3. Reviewing and reconciling payments and expenses;
    4. Responding to queries from suppliers, customers and staff through the counter and telephone calls;
    5. Verifying financial data and ensuring accuracy;
    6. Maintaining accounting ledgers and keeping financial records updated;
    7. Banking and follow-up of bank documentation sent to the bank e.g. on unprocessed payments submitted to the bank;
    8. Coding of payment vouchers paid before capturing into the accounting system stamping PAID to all attachments on a payment document before filling;
    9. Reviewing all payment requisitions, verifying that they are duly authorised, and all the supporting documents are attached;
    10. Attending to the Section email on daily basis;
    11. Assisting in preparing management statements and reports;
    12. Preparing up year-end audit schedules;
    13. Processing payments and journals in the accounting system;
    14. Supervising petty cash management and ensuring petty cash reconciliations are done on daily basis;
    15. Capturing expenditure into the accounting system;
    16. Raising of journals to update and effect corrections on accounts; and
    17. Performing any other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

    1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent from a recognized institution of higher learning;
    2. A Master of Commerce degree and/or any accounting qualification from a professional board such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Chartered Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute in Zimbabwe (CGAIZ) formerly the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Zimbabwe (ICSAZ), Chartered Accountant (Zimbabwe) [CA (Z)] etc. will be an added advantage;
    3. Registration as a Public Accountant in good standing with the Public Accountants and Auditors Board (PAAB) is an added advantage;
    4. Five (5) ‘O’ level passes including English Language and Mathematics;
    5. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience at the level of Accounting Assistant/ Chief Accounts Clerk level in a university or similar environment;
    6. Solid understanding and application of IAS and IFRS;
    7. Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage Pastel, Navision, and advanced Microsoft Excel; and
    8. Strong leadership, analytical thinking, policy development, and risk management skills
