WUA Driving School
Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced and highly motivated professionals who wish to fill in the post of Driving School Instructor. The position requires a person of high personal and professional integrity, with a distinguished performance record.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teaching practical skills related to all aspects of driving;
- Arriving on time for all scheduled driving lessons;
- Maintaining a high level of customer service by providing professional, courteous, and friendly instruction;
- Documenting and reporting on learners’ progress;
- Gaining control of the vehicle during emergency situations;
- Calming learners who are in distress;
- Working cooperatively with other instructors to ensure that all students receive the best possible instruction;
- Encouraging learners’ participation and providing feedback throughout each lesson;
- Helping learners develop safe driving habits and skills by modeling proper techniques and demonstrating defensive driving strategies;
- Informing students when they are ready to take the driver’s test;
- Helping students to develop confidence in their driving skills;
- Preparing lessons that are tailored to learners’ needs;
- Providing instruction on the parts and functions of a vehicle, and on-road regulations;
- Keeping up to date on local traffic laws and conditions, and sharing this information with learners as needed;
- Being patient, flexible, and adaptable when working with learners of varying abilities and learning styles;
- Completing all required paperwork and documentation in a timely and accurate manner;
- Reporting all accidents to the Manager, Business and Enterprise Development; and
- Adhering to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Five (5) Ordinary level subjects including English Language;
- At least five (5) years’ experience as a class 4 (four) driving instructor;
- Certified Driving Instructor Certificate;
- Valid Defensive Driving Certificate;
- Valid Class 4 (four) driver’s license with clean driving record;
- Valid driving instructor’s license or certification; and
- No criminal record
Attributes and skills required:
- Patience and the ability to stay calm under pressure;
- Ability to work during weekends, as required;
- Excellent communication, customer service, and time-management skills;
- A genuine interest in helping others learn to drive;
- Patience and enthusiasm; and
- Proven experience as a driving instructor.
