    Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions that have arisen at the Women’s University in Africa.

    Position                       : Assistant to Visually Impaired Lecturer

    Reports to                  : Visually Impaired Lecturer

    Work Station             : Harare Campus x 2 posts & Kadoma Campus x 1 post

    Period                         : Two (2) years

    RESPONSIBILITIES/KEY TASKS

    • Assisting in administering, scoring and recording results of tests/examinations;
    • Maintaining students’ files/records for the purpose of recording the current status of progress;
    • Transcribing hard copy or pictorial material into soft copy information for easy access by the Lecturer;
    • Assisting in the evaluation of students’ progress and/or implementing students’ objectives;
    • Providing assistance in marking of examination scripts, projects, fieldwork reports including all work presented in hard copy format;
    • Assisting the lecturer in daily mobility;
    • Assisting in managing E-Learning platforms including uploading and downloading of learning material;
    • Providing support in the supervision of student task e.g. writing in-class tests, individual or group activities;
    • Assisting the Lecturer in the supervision of students on work related learning;
    • Monitoring individual students in classroom and individual activities for the purpose of maintaining a safe and positive learning environment and observing students’ interactions; and
    • Performing record keeping and basic clerical functions, scheduling copying etc., for the purpose of supporting the lecturer in maintaining student files and providing classroom materials.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE AND ATTRIBUTES

    • A minimum of at least five (5) ordinary level subjects including English Language;
    • Diploma in Social Work or any Social Science or related professional studies.
    • Possession of a relevant Bachelor’s degree is an added advantage;
    • Braille is an added advantage;
    • Experience in working with visually impaired populations, paid or voluntary is an added advantage;
    • Prior job-related experience with visually impaired populations, paid or voluntary;
    • Basic skills in computer operations;
    • Ability to maintain close attention to detail and to meet deadlines; and
    • Ability to interact with students in an effective manner.

    The candidate must possess the following attributes

    • Strong communication and organisational skills;
    • Proficiency in Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Access; and
    • Ability to handle multiple priorities with accuracy and to pay attention to detail.
