    Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates only to fill the following position that has arisen at the Women’s University in Africa:

    Duration         :           Full-time

     

    Reports to the Bursar.

    Responsibilities/Key Tasks

    1. Prepare annual financial statements in line with International Accounting Standards (IAS) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
    2. Prepare periodic management accounts and quarterly financial reports;
    3. Coordinate the development, planning, and control of approved budgets;
    4. Manage the external audit process and ensure audit readiness;
    5. Oversee maintenance of inventory records and the fixed asset register;
    6. Reconcile the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records;
    7. Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance efficiency;
    8. Assist with institutional strategic planning and reporting;
    9. Identify and manage financial risks;
    10. Supervise and provide professional oversight to accounting staff in the Finance Department;
    11. Authorize expenditure and approve payments in line with delegated authority; and
    12. Perform any other relevant duties assigned by the Bursar.

     

    Desired Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

    1. A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent;
    2. A Master of Commerce Degree in Accounting;
    3. An accounting qualification from a professional board such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Chartered Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Governance and Accountancy Institute in Zimbabwe (CGAIZ) formerly the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Zimbabwe (ICSAZ), Chartered Accountant (Zimbabwe) [CA (Z)] etc.;
    4. Registration as a Public Accountant in good standing with the Public Accountants and Auditors Board (PAAB) is mandatory;
    5. A minimum of five (5) years’ experience at the level of Assistant/Senior Assistant Bursar or middle to senior management level in a university;
    6. Solid understanding and application of IAS and IFRS;
    7. Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage Pastel, Navision, and advanced Microsoft Excel; and
    8. Strong leadership, analytical thinking, policy development, and risk management skills.
