Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill this vacant position that has arisen in the Security Unit at the Women’s University in Africa:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Authorising the movement of University equipment, gadgets and materials ino or out of buildings or premises;
  • Inspecting and reporting all non-functional security gadgets such as alarms, CCTV, and security lights;
  • Checking incidents/occurrence books/ registers;
  • Determining rosters, shift schedules and overtime;
  • Controlling leave applications and related personnel matters in line with the University policy and procedures;
  • Administering key control system;
  • Providing information regarding incidents to Investigating Officers;
  • Monitoring and responding to the alarm system;
  • Supervising subordinates;
  • Conducting preliminary incident investigations and submitting reports;
  • Report all incidents and any identified non-compliance issues relating to the security of the University.

 Desired qualifications

  • Certificate/Diploma in Security Studies from a recognised institution or examination board; and
  • Five (5) Ordinary Level passes including English Language.

Experience

  • The candidate should have worked for at least three (3) years performing security guard duties one (1) of which should have been at supervisory level; and
  • Experience working at a tertiary institution is an added advantage.

  • Knowledge of supervisory practices and principles;
  • Knowledge of relevant security emergency procedures;
  • Knowledge of security procedures and practices;
  • Written communication skills;
  • Ability to perform patrolling duties;
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
