Profile: Chairperson Department Of Agriculture Mr Handsen Tibugari
Mr Handsen Tibugari was born in 1971. He joined the Women’s University in Africa in August 2007 as a lecturer. He was tasked to head the Department of Agriculture in 2008.  He holds a Master of Science in Crop Protection and a Bachelor of Science Honours in Crop Science from the University of Zimbabwe. He also holds a Diploma in Agriculture from Mlezu Agricultural College. Before joining Women’s University in Africa, Mr Tibugari worked as an Agricultural Extension Specialist in the Department of Agricultural Engineering (Produce Handling) in the Ministry of Agriculture. His duties included advising farmers and other stakeholders on the proper post-harvest handling techniques for farm produce. He lectures in crop protection courses. He has a passion for collaborative research.

Profile: Lecturer and Farm Coordinator Mr Fabeon Chigumira waNgwerume
Mr Fabeon Chigumira waNgwerume was born in 1960. He joined the Women’s University in Africa in 2010 under the Women’s University in Africa-African Capacity Building Foundation Project as a Horticulture lecturer and Farm Coordinator. As Farm Coordinator, he is tasked to help upgrade the farm into a university teaching facility for agriculture programmes. Mr Chigumira holds a Master of Philosophy in Soil-Plant-Water Relations from the University of Nottingham, UK (1991-93), Bachelor of Science Honours in Crop Science from the University of Zimbabwe (1986-88), Diploma in Agriculture from Gwebi Agricultural College (1982-84), and Diploma in Vegetable Production from Tsukuba International Centre (Japan). Before joining Women’s University in Africa he was employed from 2006 to 2008 as Head of Institute in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, having previously worked as Principal Research Agronomist from 2001 to 2006 and Research Technician from 1989 to 2001 in the same Ministry.  He has a strong passion for horticulture, agronomy and seed production.

Profile: Lecturer Mr Gospell Henry Munetsi Matondi
Mr Gospell Henry Munetsi Matondi was born in 1979. He joined the Women’s University in Africa as an Animal Science lecturer in 2009.  He holds a Master of Science in Animal Science (2004-2006) and a Bachelor of Science Honours degree in Animal Science from the University of Zimbabwe (1999-2002). Before joining Women’s University in Africa he worked as a part time researcher at the University of Zimbabwe’s Centre for Rural development, focusing on Lands and Livelihoods and Knowledge Management. He worked as a lecturer at Bindura University of Science Education from 2006-2007 and at the University of Zimbabwe from 2007-2008. He served as Agricultural Extension Specialist in the Department of Agriculture Research and Extension services from September 2004 to August 2006, was Head of Section (Animal Husbandry) and lecturer at Rio Tinto Agricultural College from 2003 to 2004 and worked as a Mathematics teacher for a term in 2002. He was a Research Assistant for PhD Student Paris Yeros attached to the Institute of development Studies (UZ) in 2001. He has published papers in Animal production and Rural Development. He has a passion for consultancy and rural development.

Profile: Lecturer Mr Godfrey Bernard Nyamushamba
Mr Godfrey Bernard Nyamushamba was born on 28 March 1985. He holds a Masters in Business Administration (2007-2010) and a Bachelor of Science Agriculture Honours in Animal Science from Women’s University in Africa (2003-06). He joined Women’s University in Africa in 2007 as a Teaching Assistant in the Animal Science Section. Currently he is studying a Master of Science in Animal Science at the University of Zimbabwe. He has a strong passion for research and sports.







Profile: Mhungu Somerset - Lecturer in Agriculture
Somerset Mhungu is a seasoned administrator and classroom practitioner currently pursuing doctoral studies by research with Africa University. He holds a Master of Science in Crop Production and Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Public Management from Africa University and National University of Science and Technology respectively. Additionally, Mhungu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and Management from the Zimbabwe Open University and Certificate in Education from the University of Zimbabwe specializing in Physics and Chemistry. In twenty years of continuous service in education, Somerset Mhungu was a headmaster In July 2009, Mhungu joined Ministry of Agriculture’s Department of Agricultural Technical and Extension services as principal agronomist in charge of cotton. In September 2009, Mhungu joined Women’s University in Africa’s Agriculture as lecturer in Plant Breeding, Plant Biotechnology and Olericulture. Mhungu is at the frontier of research in agronomy and ecophysiology of podding of Bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea (L.) verdc) and has three publications to his credit. He is involved in University Community Service running various short-courses including vegetable production and processing to benefit of smallholder and commercial farmers. Mhungu is married.
