The Dean of Studies Mrs Elizabeth Chikwiri is a holder of a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Zimbabwe. She is currently undertaking Doctoral Studies with UNISA. Mrs Chikwiri brings to the University expertise in teaching, research and administration. Her career as a teacher started way back in 1983 as a Primary School Teacher, her passion for continuous learning saw her rise through the ranks to Head Teacher in 1993, Lecturer and subsequently Lecturer in Charge at Seke Teacher's College. Mrs Chikwiri joined the Women's University in Africa as a Part time Lecturer in 2006 and became a Full time lecturer in 2007.



The Women’s University in Africa has vibrant and dynamic academic departments which are striving to enhance the quality of its offerings geared towards the production of quality and effective graduates who are not only highly qualified, but who also contribute to a highly competent human power capable of attaining the self reliance and economic development of Zimbabwe.  Academic departments fall in the following areas: Agriculture, Management and Entrepreneurial Development Studies and Social Sciences and Gender Development Studies and Agriculture.  

Agriculture
The Department offers a series of programmes tailor-made to respond to the Zimbabwean agrarian needs, in these areas: Horticulture, Animal Science, Agribusiness, Wildlife and Environment.

The department conducts excellent teaching and social research which focuses on diverse topical issues in agriculture.  Graduates from this department are equipped with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude to enable them to render service in the agriculture sector.

Management and Entrepreneurial Development Studies and Information Technology
Cognisant of the importance that entrepreneurship plays in the development of the economy of the nation, WUA through the department of Management and Entrepreneurial Development Studies and I. T. offers high quality academic and career focused degree and diploma programmes in marketing, business administration, banking and finance, human resources and accounting.

Social Sciences and Gender Development Studies
This department provides excellent and innovative degree programmes in areas which serve the real needs of society in general and those of marginalized communities.  An exceptional range of interdisciplinary programmes in the following areas are offered:  Early Childhood Development, Psychology, Sociology, Development studies and Social work.  Each programme provides different academic capacities and skills that cater for specific needs to wide varying streams of students.
