The Women’s University in Africa (WUA) is a private institution that was established in 2002 and granted a Charter by the Government of Zimbabwe in 2004.
WUA invites applications for the position of Procurement Manager. The Procurement Manager will report to the Pro Vice Chancellor (Planning, Business Development, Operations, and Finance).
1.0 PERSON SPECIFICATION
The ideal candidate should:
- hold at least a Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent qualification from a reputable University;
- have at least 5 years demonstrated experience in procurement practice.
- have proven management capacity, including knowledge of accounting procedures;
- be computer literate with a heavy flair of MS Excel;
- have solid time management competencies with an ability to prioritise work; and
- have proven work experience in a tertiary institution which would be an added advantage.
2.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
The Procurement Manager shall:
- Develop a robust Procurement Department Transformational Strategy underpinned by an enhanced, transparent procurement policy as part of its governance system with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs);
- Deliver a best-in-class professional service with quality output compliant with national and international procurement policies and regulations;
- Create an environment in which the University obtains the best possible value for money for all procurement expenditure and increase contract compliance by creating, communicating and embedding contract agreements that are fit for purpose;
- Apply principles of sustainable procurement across all spend guided by ethical sourcing and environmental considerations across procurement practices;
- Champion risk management by effectively managing, monitoring, and controlling all internal and external supply chain risks, and maintain a supplier risk profile for key strategic suppliers;
- Work in collaboration with both internal and external bodies, as University stakeholders, to provide procurement solutions aimed at achieving agreed targets aligned with the University’s Procurement Policy SOPs;
- Measure, manage and improve key strategic supplier performance for value assurance as stated in Tender commitment SOPs;
- Conduct supplier workshops on performance management; and
- Build the credibility and enhance the reputation of the University by establishing a professional procurement team with an appetite for continuous development capable of devolving the procurement function to University responsibility centres while offering secretariat services to the Internal Tender Evaluation Committee.
3.0 REMUNERATION AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The University offers:
3.1 A highly attractive and competitive remuneration package in accordance with the University Terms and Conditions of Service;

3.3 A three (3) year performance-related contract, renewable once.
