The Women’s University in Africa is a private institution with its headquarters in Harare, Zimbabwe and is governed by a Board of Trustees. It enrols mature female and male students with the relevant qualifications. Applications are invited from candidates wishing to pursue the following undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes as well as diploma programmes which begin in August 2012.

1.0    UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES
1.1.    FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE

The programmes will be offered as (1) Day classes, (2) Evening classes, (3) Weekend classes and (4) Block release.

a)	Bachelor of Science Agriculture (Honours) degree in Animal Science	3 Years
b)	Bachelor of Science Agriculture (Honours) degree in Horticulture	3 Years
c)	Bachelor of Science  Agriculture (Honours) degree in Agribusiness Management	3 Years

Entry Requirements

• At least two ‘A’ level passes in any of the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Agriculture or Geography; OR
• At least a good Diploma or Certificate in Agriculture or Veterinary Science from a recognised institution after attaining a minimum of five ‘O’ level passes including English Language, Mathematics, Account or Commerce and Science or Agriculture plus two years relevant working experience.
• For c) above at least two Advanced Level passes in any of the following subjects: Management of Business, Agriculture, Mathematics, Accounts or Economics,

Or

• At least a good Diploma or Certificate in Agriculture or Accounting or its equivalent after attaining at least five Ordinary Level passes that include English Language, Mathematics, Accounts or Commerce, Science or Agriculture plus relevant working experience.
• NB. A bridging course will be offered to those without Mathematics.
• Lectures will be conducted both in Harare and Marondera.

1.2 FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT,  ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT STUDIES AND IT.

a)	Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Information Systems	3 Years
b)	Bachelor of Science degree in Management & Entrepreneurial Development Studies, specialising in
	(i) General Management and Marketing (ii) Banking and Finance	3 Years

Entry Requirements

• A minimum of  five ‘O’ level passes including English Language and Mathematics plus either,
• At least three years relevant work experience; OR
• At least two ‘A’ level passes including Computing Science for 1.2 (a) and Management of Business for 1. 2 (b)

1.3    FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES, GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES

a)	Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Psychology	3 Years
b)	Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Sociology and Gender Devt. Studies	3 Years
c)	Bachelor of Education degree (Primary) – Holiday (Part-time)	3 Years
d)	Bachelor of Education degree (Early Childhood Development) – Holiday (Part-time)	3 Years
e)	Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Women’s and Gender Studies	3 Years

Entry Requirements

• A minimum of five ‘O’ level passes including English Language and Mathematics for Psychology.
• A minimum of five ‘O’ level passes including English Language for Sociology and Gender Development Studies.
• At least 3 years relevant work experience for Diploma holders.
• At least two ‘A’ level passes in Social Sciences related subjects
• Possession of a Certificate/Diploma in a related area such as Education, Nursing, Personnel Management, Social Work, Theology, etc is an added advantage.
• For B.Ed. (Early Childhood Development) applicants should have a Certificate/Diploma in Pre-School or Early Childhood Education in addition to the minimum entry requirements
• For B.Ed. Primary, a minimum of five ‘O’ level passes including English Language. Applicants should have a Diploma in Education in addition to the minimum entry requirements
• For Women’s and Gender Studies, a minimum of five ‘O’ level passes including English Language. Possession of a professional certificate or diploma is an added advantage. Applicants below 25 years should have passed 2 A level subjects in Social Sciences or Humanities

2.0    POSTGRADUATE DEGREE PROGRAMMES

2.1 FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT AND ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT STUDIES and IT.

a)

Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA)

21/2 years

2.2    FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES, GENDER AND DEVELOPMENT STUDIES

a)

Master of Science degree in Development Studies (MDS)

2 years

Entry requirements for Postgraduate Degree Programmes

• A good first degree with at least a 2.2 from a recognised institution of higher learning.
• Prospective students need to be above 25 years of age with at least 2 years work experience at managerial/supervisory level
• Applications should include references certifying the candidate’s ability and suitability to undertake the programme.

3.0    DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES

3.1	Executive Diploma in Management (EDM)	A minimum of five ‘O’ level passes including English Language and Mathematics. Work experience at a senior management level is an added advantage.	1 year
3.2	Diploma in Social Work	Five (5) O’ Levels with C or better including English Language. Certificate in social work is an added advantage. Mature students (25 years and above) are given first preference and those  below  25 years shall be considered for special entry.	2 years
3.3	Diploma in Environmental Management	The programme will be offered as (1) Day classes, (2) Evening classes, (3) Weekend classes and (4) Block release. Applicants are required to have: Five (5) O’ Levels (with C or better) in English Language, Mathematics and Science, and any other two subjects deemed relevant (such as Geography, Management of Business and Psychology), Or Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism, Certificate in Agriculture, Certificate in Surveying, Certificate in Urban Planning/Development or any other qualifications deemed relevant by the Faculty, NB. A bridging course will be offered to those without Mathematics.	2 years
3.4	Diploma in Project Planning and Management (Block Release)	A minimum of five ‘O’ level passes including English Language and Mathematics. At least two (2) years of project team experience is an added advantage.	2 years

HOW TO APPLY

Application forms can be obtained from the University upon payment of a non-refundable application fee of USD30 for Zimbabwean applicants and USD50 for International applicants reviewed from time to time. Alternatively the forms may be downloaded from the WUA website: www.wua.ac.zw and submitted with proof of payment of the application fee. The application should then be submitted together with certified copies of national ID card, birth certificate and educational certificates. The deadline for the submission of application forms is 31 May 2012.
