 Department Chairperson - Mr. Handsen Tibugari
Mr. Handsen Tibugari was born in 1971. He joined the Women’s University in Africa in August 2007 as a lecturer. He was tasked to head the Department of Agriculture in 2008. He holds a Master of Science in Crop Protection and a Bachelor of Science Honours in Crop Science from the University of Zimbabwe. He also holds a Diploma in Agriculture from Mlezu Agricultural College.
 Preamble
These regulations apply to full time students of the Women’s University in Africa and should be read together with the General Academic Regulations for Undergraduate Degree Programs, which have precedence over these faculty regulations.
Aim
The aim is to advance agricultural knowledge, the diffusion and extension of learning, and the provision of research that should nurture the intellectual, social and professional growth of students.
Course of Study
One diploma programme, seven undergraduate and three postgraduate degree programmes are offered in the faculty.
Tuition
Tuition is face-to-face. Lectures normally start from 0830 hours to 1600 hours. Students should attend all lectures and practicals, submit tests and assignments on specified deadlines as these contribute 30 % of the final mark.
Field Practicals
Field practicals are normally conducted at the university farm in Marondera and all students are expected to be dressed in appropriate protective clothing as stated from time to time.
Examinations
General Information about Examinations
Examinations are written at the end of each semester. To sit for an examination, a candidate must have completed the courses of study and passed with at least 15 out of 30 for the coursework in each course, and should be a registered student. Each examination is written in three hours, unless otherwise stated. Candidates will have to satisfy examiners at each semester before proceeding to the next semester. The degree classification will be based on cumulative performance in Part II and Part III examinations. The research project assessment will include seminars and the written dissertation.
Examinations Assessment Scheme
The final mark will be made up of coursework and an end of semester examination and will be graded according to GPA scheme as follows;

Ratification and Notification of Results
Senate ratifies results which are then published by the Registrar.
Award of degrees
For a student to be awarded a degree, he/she should have passed all the courses offered in the respective degree programmes.
Vacation Attachment
During vacations all students are required to go on attachment. Vacation attachment bridges the gap between theory and practice of agriculture. It serves to impart valuable practical experiences that prepare agriculture students for the workforce upon graduation. The objective of the programme is to provide opportunities for the application of classroom knowledge to real-world practical agriculture.
Finding a Place for Attachment
Students are encouraged to apply to recommended organizations. This makes them gain experience of preparing their resumes and aggressively marketing themselves to potential employers.
Where to Get Attached
Students can only be attached to recommended institutions within Zimbabwe.
Exemptions from Vacation Attachment
There shall be no exemption from vacation attachment. Students failing to meet attachment requirements may not proceed into final year.
Student Conduct During Attachment
Students on attachment are expected to remain disciplined and remember to be good ambassadors of the university. Students should abide by both university regulations and rules of the organisation they are attached to. Among other things students should be punctual wherever they are required, carry out duties industriously and maintain good relations with those they will be interacting with, bearing in mind that any form of misconduct may affect future relations between the university and the organisation.
Student Supervision and Evaluation during Attachment During attachment, a student shall work under the joint guidance of a university supervisor and a manager from the organization. The university supervisor shall visit the organization to assess the student during the attachment period. The supervisor from the organisation shall also assess the student on a day to day basis. Each student shall be required to submit to the university and organisation a copy each of a soft copy and spiral bound report in which he/she will demonstrate how his or her theoretical knowledge applied to practical problems and situations arising from the daily activities he/she participated in at the organization.
Students failing to go on attachment shall not proceed into final year.
