In line with the University's mandate to address gender disparity and foster equity in University education, WUA celebrates with the world the International Women's Day which is marked on 8 March each year. This year the event will be held in Harare at the Cresta Sango Conference Centre as a red carpet event. For it to be an impactful event and also a transparent stock take on where we are as a nation regarding gender parity, the university and its collaborative partners listed below introduced three awards as follows:-

The following criteria provides a guide in assessing the eligibility of a candidate when selecting a recipient. In all cases, the candidate must be outstanding in any areas including the following:

  • Excellence/Competency in a particular field;
  • Breadth of work in Gender issues;
  • Achievement in other fields;
  • Inventive value e.g. patents and copyrights;
  • Individual vs. group contribution;
  • Publications (articles, programmes etc.);
  • Originality of contribution;
  • Quality of nomination;
  • Quality of endorsements.

The Founder and Vice Chancellor of the Women's University in Africa, Professor Hope Cynthia Sadza and the collaborative partners hereby request that you nominate awardees in the listed categories through the attached nomination forms for consideration by the appointed Adjudication Committee. Your NOMINATION FORMS should reach the university on the availed address not later than 18 February 2016.
