Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Internal Auditor which has risen at the Women’s University in Africa, Harare campus.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Establishing and executing comprehensive internal audit plans for regulatory, financial, information systems and operational audits;
- Ensuring that risk assessments reflect the true position of risk profiles;
- Contributing towards the maintenance of the university-wide risk register and the strategic documents of the department including internal audit policies and procedures;
- Undertaking assigned audit engagements in accordance with standards and the timelines set in the annual audit plan;
- Evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of risk management, compliance, internal controls, information systems, governance processes and procedures;
- Evaluating and assist operational units in implementing necessary adjustments in internal control systems and procedures;
- Identifying factors causing deficient conditions and recommend courses of action for improvement as well as reviewing the adequacy of corrective actions taken or plans to improve deficient conditions through reports and/or memoranda;
- Ensuring that audit work papers are adequate, objectives have been accomplished and all conclusions are properly supported;
- Ensuring that university governance processes and procedures enhance the protection of university assets as well as identifying opportunities for process improvement;
- Finalising the audit files and ensures that supporting documents are properly retained;
- Occasional overnight travel for offsite audits.
PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
- A minimum qualification of a Bachelor's degree in Internal Auditing; Finance; Accounting or Business related. Master’s Degree an added advantage
- Membership to any professional board such as; (ICSAZ/ACCA/CIMA) an added advantage;
- Working knowledge of best practices, principles and theories of accounting and auditing standards (COSO/IPPF/ISA/IFRS/ISACA/COBIT/ITIL/PMP);
- At least two (2) years relevant post degree experience in internal auditing;
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing;
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently;
- Advanced Ms Excel.
